ToLLA Deluxe Edition, Build#2-J Release & News/Info/Roadmap Devlog!
Hello advenurers! :)
Today we're releasing Build#2-J for the game...
This release features the major first half of Sabrine Veilspire's content.
We've run into some issues for the multi-part puzzle and followup lewd scene while we were testing it, mostly tied to scripting logic. There's a bunch of flags and logic-states the event can move through, and a recurring error keeps popping up which we've not managed to narrow down yet. We didn't want to push out a buggy encounter just for the sake of hitting a deadline, so we're releasing only the first part of Sabrine's content for now...
You can play through the current build and talk to Sabrine to get to know her, or just wait for the next one and the 2nd half of her quest/scene to be released. We should have the rest sorted out when Doozle (our scripter) finishes debugging it, with the followup ToLLA build out as soon as it's error-free. Hopefully it gets done within a week or so, we really wanna get this content out to y'all...
Once that's done we'll be releasing the next map (Fort Ninevus North) that introduces a few more main characters and pushes the campaign story forward. A lot of this content has been painted, written, and implemented - it just needs thorough testing and polishing, then VO work once it's locked and finalized. We've also got a bunch of work-in-progress art assets that need finishing and adding as well...
Our internal game version is always a couple of builds ahead of the latest release, but most of the time we're waiting on some portion of scripting/testing/art to finalize and release the next update, hence the discrepancy. We'll continue releasing builds every 2-3 weeks and adding content to the game throughout the next couple months, then launch on Steam Early Access some time around August/September. Hopefully our EA launch will do well enough to give us a bit of financial runway so we can invest those earnings back into the game. If funds allow, we'd like to expand the team and bring on more devs to speed up the content creation pipeline...
There's a bunch of cool features and mechanics that are still on the backburner (stuff like deckbuilding & card combat) which we'd love to add ASAP, but there's no point doing a mechanical pass on the game until we have at least 3 full maps finished and content-complete. At that point the game should have ~30h of playtime, so we'll be able to pivot to mechanics for a few builds and sort out inventory/combat/UI while the artists produce combat minis and icon art for a couple hundred crafting & equipment items.
Anyway, here's the changelog for this release:
- added the introductory dialogue scene with Sabrine Veilspire, and her initial quest offer (location: Southern Wildlands, Abandoned Mage Tower)
- added "breathing" animations to the Hale & Meredith bust events (makes them look more natural, instead of just static and standing frozen in place)
- added a new background to Tolliver's convo in the Southern Wildlands exterior area (currently only the default/daylight version of it is auto-shown)
- moved the lewd-scene crystal to the viridian formation in the Southern Wildlands, and added a new one to the Legionnaire's Lodge (Ninevus South)
- added a new social media icon to ToLLA's title screen, for the "Lewd Dungeon Runs" visual novel (check it out, and wishlist the game on Steam!)
That's it for now, we'll upload the next build as soon as it's bug-free and ready!
